Bio

Nick Gathergood brings over 25 years of expertise in green and sustainable chemistry. Previous positions include Professor, ERA Chair of Green Chemistry, at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), Estonia as part of European Research Area FP7 Pilot Chair’s award.

He has authored more than 100 publications, including research articles, reviews, book chapters, and books in the field. His commitment to academic excellence is reflected in his supervision of over 20 PhD students and mentorship of numerous chemists who have gone on to successful careers in both academia and industry.

A dedicated educator, Nick has contributed to undergraduate and MSc teaching across all levels. From first year laboratory instruction to advanced MSc workshops in green catalysis at the University of Lincoln, UK, his impact on student learning is profound. Notably, Lincoln’s School of Chemistry was ranked 2nd in the UK by The Guardian University Guide in 2020, a ranking that highlights teaching quality and student experience.

Nick has a proven track record of securing competitive research funding and delivering high-impact project outcomes that advance the field of sustainable chemistry.
